Christina + Lucas :: Mercury Hall Wedding

June 16, 2011

Oh there is so much to say about Christina and Lucas’ wedding, I don’t know even where to begin.  First off, Christina has been an absolute dream of a client to work with and has become a good friend over the last year.  I have come to learn that when we plan to meet or shoot, I need to just expect to spend twice as long because the two of us start gabbing and there is no stopping.  She planned a wonderfully relaxed, shabby chic, DIY wedding with some cute details that were true to who they were as a couple.

So, I am going to try not to gab too much here and just get on with it.

Okay, this was just awesome.  Each guest was given on of these packets as they were seated for the ceremony and told not to open it until instructed to do so.

So after the first kiss, all the guest found a kazoo inside and Christina and Lucas exited to everyone humming to the tune of ‘hear comes the bride’…It was just hilarious, and a great way to have some audience participation.

Check out these gorgeous details. A big special thanks and shout out to one of my favorite 2nd photographers, Trish Finfer who captured lots of these shots.  Her pie shot is my favorite.  Couldn’t you just see it in a food magazine! With so many great details, Trish was on special assignment to make sure they were all covered beautifully.  Christina incorporated a travel theme, because these two have been to lots of places and dear Lucas proposed while they were in Paris. There were gorgeous antique pie plates, dolche de leche cake balls, fabric flowers, handmade bunting (mothers and grandmothers on both sides were quilters). Antique postcards, globes and travel trinkets.  Oh and one of my favorites, each bridesmaid had a different colored dress and was accented by an antique matching broach and the groomsmen fabric rosette matched the color of each dress.

And this was a fun surprise…one of their good friends came out half way through the reception where a green suite. This party was far from dull.

Such an amazing night!

So here are a few words from the bride and groom:

  • Q. Bride: What is your favorite memory of the day?
    A. Walking down the isle with Lucas and seeing all our friends and family just overflowing with smiles and joy. I nearly burst out crying seeing everyone celebrating us. The dance party and the kazoos were fun too!
  • Q. Groom: What is your favorite memory of the day?
    A. The pie.
  • Q. Bride: What advice would you give future brides?
    A. RELAX. This is the best day of your married life and don’t spend it worrying about the details, arguing with your coordinator or fretting that things aren’t perfect. When you let go and soak up all the beauty and love, your day will be magical. Your guests will enjoy a stress free bride and your new husband might enjoy the day even more.
  • Q. Groom: What advice would you give to future grooms?
    A. Focus on the pie.
  • Q. Where did you go on your honeymoon
    A. Belize, Ambergris Caye
  • Q. Who was your dress designer
    A. Galina Signature
  • Q. Shoe designer?
