How did you choose your venues: First Presbyterian Church in Waco and Ridgewood Country Club? My family is a member of First Pres. It also didn’t hurt that it’s one of the most beautiful churches with an amazing organ. There aren’t too many options in Waco to hold a 300-person wedding, but we knew Ridgewood would be the perfect spot and we would get the best service (which we did!).

Describe your decor and how you chose it? The theme for our entire wedding was classic, elegant and traditional. We wanted to compliment both venues (since they have a lot of character) and not totally transform the space. Our colors were navy and gold but I also love bright colors (especially pink!) and wanted to incorporate that in the flowers.

Why did you choose me, Jenny, to be your wedding photographer? I knew I wanted someone with a classic taste (with a twist). We had a connection the first time we met after Jenny said she loved a detailed schedule of events! As a former event planner, I love organization and running on time!

What was one of your favorite moments from the your wedding day? My favorite moment was during the ceremony. I was nervous I would cry when I saw Ben at the end of the aisle. One of the first things Leslie, the preacher, asked us was the declaration of intent and when it was Ben’s turn he said “I do” so loud – with his thick Texas accent – that the entire church started laughing.

What was your favorite image from your wedding day? My favorite image is the close up of Ben before the ceremony – so handsome! But I also love the group photo at the reception with our entire house party. Might not be the best photo of Ben and me but it shows how much fun we were having that night!

Did any of your other vendors go above and beyond for you? YES! Caroline Fair – our wedding planner. She is the very best!!! Katie Hood at Merveille is also the best. She wowed every single guest at our wedding with the florals. Also, Haley Gandy, of Cedar Gandy, the creative force behind all of our beautiful paper goods. Ridgewood Country Club catered to our every need. And people still talk about our band, Drywater!

Do you have any tips to share with other couples? People told us not to stress about all the decisions because no one would know if something didn’t happen or what vendor you didn’t choose – but that is a lot easier said than done!! I would say be true to yourself: have the day (ceremony to reception) you want, choose the vendors that best suit your style, etc. AND don’t leave for your honeymoon the day after. Give yourself a few days to recoup – you will thank me later!
