Sara and David’s wedding was just such a joy to photograph. I had gotten to know Sara, her sister and one ultra fab bridesmaids, Alexia before the wedding and it was like I was amongst some great girlfriends on the actual wedding day. I really enjoy not only getting to know my super kind and lovely clients, but their friends and family too!  David was such a gentleman and sweetheart and Sara, the classiest and sweetest bride ever! Here are just a few of my favorite images from the day…

One of my favorite moments was when Sara and her dad were practicing their father daughter dance before she got into her dress.

She rode over to the church to have her first look in this gorgeous vintage cadillac!

And, since Sara didn’t have a bridal portrait time, she carved out a big chunk of time to take some really incredible images on the wedding day. She was an absolute vision! And that dress was so incredible

Sara was reluctant to do a first look. But I promised her, all my client’s who have been hesitant are ALWAYS glad they did it afterwards. Not one has regretted taking the time to have a private moment together.

And…she had the chicest DIY details around. Such incredible style.

  A. Besides marrying David and seeing all of our friends and family- I had so much fun getting ready with my bridesmaids and hanging out on the balcony of the mansion.

  A. turning around at first look to see sara for the first time – she looked amazing
• Q. Bride: What advice would you give future brides?

  A. Do a first look! I was against it at first, but it made things so much more personal. We read vows/letters we wrote to each other during our first look so we were much more at ease during the actual ceremony.
• Q. Groom: What advice would you give to future grooms?

  A. make sure you take in every moment during the day

Also, Jessica and Ryan got hitch at a pretty damn cool photography studio out in the hill country, called the Studio at Fischer.  This was the venues first wedding and it was really quite an amazing space. In addition, this bride was lucky enough to have one of the most incredible design talents here in Austin as her sister (Olivia Sharratt from Liv by Design). Kinda lucky to have a wedding planner in the family.  And, for me, this wedding was a breath of fresh air. Its was modern, edgy and indoors with not a single mason jar to be found. Which is such a stark contrast to the vintage, rustic chic weddings that are all the rage right now. Don’t get me wrong, I love those too, but it was nice to see something different. Especially because that is not every brides style, like this city girl who lived out in L.A. for a little while.

Check out these two giving each other the ‘eye’ during their ceremony…so cute!

I love their big long head table. It had such great atmosphere!

Right after Liv gave her speech, she went over to give her sis a big hug but this big table had gotten in the way. It was actually a great moment.

• Q. Bride: What is your favorite memory of the day?

  A. Seeing and spending alone time with Ryan before the ceremony for our first look photos was the most memorable moment. I loved sitting at our amazing head table with all of our friends too!
• Q. Groom: What is your favorite memory of the day?

  A. Seeing Jess for the first time during our “first look” photos and hanging with the boys right before we walked out for the ceremony.
• Q. Bride: What advice would you give future brides?

  A. Relax, have FUN and be present in the moment!! The day will not go 100% as planned but it will all work out for the best so just relax and enjoy your special day.
• Q. Groom: What advice would you give to future grooms?

  A. Hold on to the rings! My best man lost Jessica’s wedding band which was later found but definitely a not-so-fun scare.

Nathan is a commercial fisherman and spends months in Alaska catching amazing fish which Angelica is a art teacher down in San Antonio. Their wedding was so beautiful and Angelica’s dress and entire look was just to die for!

Angie’s style was absolutely impeccable. I loved this jeweled white head piece and then she found a gorgeous cathedral length vintage lace veil that was absolutely stunning.

Their ceremony was held on the labyrinth at red corral ranch.

One of my favorite little moments during the ceremony was when Nathan gently swept Angie’s hair.

Okay, these bridesmaids had to be some of the most stylin ladies i have photographed. They all wore coordinating jewel tones hues of blues, purples and some neutral greys. Then they all had custom made hair pieces with birdcage veils (or russian bridal netting) adorned with beautiful peacock feathers.

But Angie’s dress really stole the show. So elegant. And loved that it was a different style than most brides are going for right now. Its was a silky satin off the shoulder gown that is so very appropriately names ‘the movie star’ from designer Amy Michaelson. Also, she had a really cool custom brooch bouquet that I had never seen before.

Angie’s family dressed up in traditional Colombian costumes and danced a cumbia as a surprise for her and Nate.

So a bit from our bride:

• Q. Bride: What is your favorite memory of the day?

  A. Dancing in the Hora Loca with all of our guests – Also when my family who dressed up in tradional colombian costume surprised us & Nate & I danced cumbia with candles!! Also getting serenaded at the wedding ceremony by Nate & all of his groomsman. Dancing with my father. Listening to Nates declare his beautiful vows )
• Q. Groom: What is your favorite memory of the day?

  A. Dancing with my grandma. Dancing the first dance with Angie. When my groomsman all sang with me. Having all of our families meet for the first time!
• Q. Bride: What advice would you give future brides?

  A. Try to think of what is most important to you & write everything down thats most important to you so you dont forget … because you will be so flustered & worried about ‘staying on schedule’ that you will forget everything you wanted to do on your wedding day!!!
• Q. Groom: What advice would you give to future grooms?

  A. Delagate responisibilities to your family members & friends to help take the load off of yourselves. Most of the time they are so willing to help & you usually just forget to ask!! Remeber to ask for help becuase you cant do it all.

So if you want to know what to do when you can’t do a sparkler exit because of the burn ban, these cute little homemade pompoms were a nice pop of color. It was just a wooden dowel with matching ribbon streamers attached to the end.

This is one of my favorites.

Rachel’s new mother (Micheal’s mom) was the sweetest, kindest, lady with big heart full of love. Just as the ceremony started, she saw her new daughter’s train needed a little adjusting. She slowly got up from her seat and with such poise and grace, performed this small little act of love and kindness and fluffed Rachel’s dress so that she would look just perfect for all the guests. This moment really touched my heart.

What an incredible day it was and my most favorite part was that she walk down the aisle to her groom singing her a song and playing the guitar. It was one of the most genuine and sweet take on a traditional ceremony. I have no idea how Todd made it through the entire song and there wasn’t a dry eye in the place.

A favorite moment of mine during the ceremony. One of Alicia’s best friend’s and bridesmaid was singing a song to the both of them. I knew the words spoke to Alicia’s heart at this very second.

And…now for some of my favorite portraits ever! I just love them. The sun light was just gorgeous. Thanks to the couple for trusting me with this extra time…its so very very important to carve out some dedicated along time with the photographer. All of my couples say its SO worth it.

So, for those that have never been to a Polish-Texan wedding (lots of them out in Washington and Brazos Country) this is called the Grand March. Its a traditional dance that started with everyone ushering through the village or town to let the folks know that a wedding was about to start and EVERYONE is invited.

It gets a little complicated and the crowds of people are interwoven amongst themselves.

Okay, instead of ‘where’s waldo’ try and find ‘where’s Jenny’

It ends with everyone in a large circle and the bride and groom in the middle for their first dance.

A big congratulations to Alicia and Todd. And thanks to my awesome second shooter Matt Johnson for getting those killer shots of the Grand March from above.
