An hour train ride from Zurich and then a short bus ride up the mountain we landed in a small town called Amden and then hiked for over 5 hours through the Swiss mountains..(Glarner Alps) to places I never thought in my life that I would ever see…we were in wildflower meadows and completely idyllic countryside.
We were hiking through some places that felt so untouched…like no one else new this special spot (although we passed loads of very fit retired old ladies putting us to shame).
and some of the trails (although were rated ‘easy’ ) were a bit precarious.
Who on earth lives in such an amazing place way up the mountain…well, did you ever read the book ‘Heidi’…grandpa does and that is his window…
Cute little cue to close the gate behind you….not exactly crime ridden kinda place…
On parts of the walk you heard this load clatter up along the hillside….and finally we came across these lovely lasses…cow bells and all…don’t they look like they are a living advert from yummy creamy swiss cheese….happy cows, aren’t ya girls.
‘Da…can you hear the cow bells…?’
‘Hey guys, check out that view!!’
Awww, ain’t that sweet…
‘Take the picture already….. ‘
