How did you choose your venue: Barton Creek Resort?
We first fell in love with the rolling hills and golf course views! So much beauty in West Austin. What sold us was the pavilion ceremony space. The idea of an outdoor ceremony was dreamy, but we couldn’t help but think about April showers and Texas heat. The windowed pavilion provided us the beautiful view with the comfort of a roof over our head and air conditioning!
Describe your decor and how you chose it?
We had lots of neutral colors – ivory, beige, gold, and silver with accents of pale pink and navy blue. The flowers were our favorite part and our florist Susie Miller out of Houston did gorgeous hanging installations in the pavilion for the ceremony and also above the head table in the ballroom for the reception. It was more beautiful than anything we could have ever imagined.
Tell me about your attire – who designed your dress and where did you buy it?
I went shopping at Mia Bridal Couture in Houston with my mom, mother-in-law, and best friend/maid of Honor. We worked with a Sarah Nouri designer to dream up the gorgeous lace dress! Jenny Kim Couture, also in Houston, worked miracles with alterations and designed removable straps that I could wear during the ceremony and take off for the reception.
What shoes did you choose and what jewelry did you wear?
Comfort was key – I went with Stuart Weitzman Nearlynude shimmery sandal. And I kept the jewelry simple with a pearl bracelet and diamond earrings, both gifts from George!
Who designed the bridesmaids dresses?
Bridesmaids wore a pale pink from Bill Levkoff. I took a few local bridesmaids shopping with me and they helped pick out 3 different necklines so each bridesmaid could choose the design they liked best!
And your groom – tell me about his look – who was his suit designer? Any other significant accessories?
George’s dark navy blue tux was designed by Billy Reid. He also wore David Yurman cufflinks and added a pop of color with suspenders from El Rey Apparel.
Why did you choose me, Jenny, to be your wedding photographer?
We couldn’t find one photo in all of her portfolio that we didn’t find shockingly gorgeous! I thought that was a great sign. Overall we love her creative style of photography and the way she plays with lighting, angles, and shadows.
What was one of your favorite moments from your wedding day?
Obviously walking down the aisle was absolutely unforgettable. Another favorite was after the reception when all of our friends and family were lining up outside for our exit and George and I shared the last dance of the night. There was confetti all over the dance floor and the ballroom was almost empty. It was definitely a moment I’ll never forget.
What was your favorite image from your wedding day?
So hard to choose! There is one during the first dance when George and I are looking at each other with the biggest smiles and the expressions on our faces say “Is this really happening!!!?” I love that Jenny was able to capture sweet moments like that one.
Did any of your other vendors go above and beyond for you?
Our videographers, Philip and Delaney Harbuck from Sight & Sound Films, also did an amazing job of capturing the weekend and making the video uniquely us.
Do you have any tips to share with other couples?
When picking out a photographer, choose someone you feel comfortable with and trust. Jenny went above and beyond in making us feel at ease throughout the process. She helped us with timelines, organizing family photographs, and so much more. We will cherish the photos forever!
