How did you choose your venues: St. Mary’s Cathedral and Brazos Hall?

We are catholic so we wanted a catholic church in downtown Austin so that our out of town guests could enjoy the fun and lively city. We have been to many weddings that are not centrally located which made it hard to plan activities during the day for guests. We wanted to make everything close and very Austin! The church was a must then we had to find a reception venue. Because of our large wedding size we didn’t fit into most venues. It was important for us to have one large room and not have to break people up to have a seated dinner. With brazos halls large room and central location that could hold all 320 of us we decided that it was the place.

Describe your decor and how you chose it?

We wanted to dress up Brazos Hall, we didn’t want it to seem too barn like or too much like a blank warehouse. We brought in Chandeliers and gold chairs with white accents such as the dance floor, stage decor and bars this making it feel less dark and brown.

Tell me about your attire – who designed your dress and where did you buy it?

My dress was purchased at Melange Bridal located in Austin It was a Justin Alexander dress. This is a full service bridal salon they ordered, altered and delivered my dress to me the day of the wedding. We didn’t have the hassle of taking it home or to a different place for alterations. My dress also had many custom pieces, Sonya in alterations made my custom cathedral vail, over skirt for the reception, and the lace sleeved Bolero I wore in the church.

What shoes did you choose and what jewelry did you wear?

I wore Christian Louboutin closed toed gold heels. For jewelry I wore my grand mothers wedding band and a diamond bracelet with pearl accents. This custom bracelet was made by Salem Jewelry in Marble Falls.

Who designed the bridesmaids dresses?

The 12 bridesmaids wore Hayley Paige JLM Couture Collection and the 9 House party girls wore Monique Lhuillier all where purchased through Bella Bridesmaids Austin.

And your groom – tell me about his look – who was his suit designer? Any other significant accessories?

John wore a classic black tux from Jos A Banks with Black Belly Caimen Crocodile Lucchese Boots. I gave him a black faced men’s datejust Rolex for his wedding gift.

Why did you choose me, Jenny, to be your wedding photographer?

I choose Jenny to be my photographer because I love her use of light. She works well with artificial light and her photos just don’t look like everyone else. She brings out the best in couples and truly makes them feel special. I love how she can make something so boring look magnicificant with her special eye behind the lens. We enjoyed our meeting with her and thought that she would be the perfect person to photograph our wedding. Because both of our venues where inside we wanted a photographer that didn’t need natural light to make a photo great.

What was one of your favorite moments from your wedding day?

I don’t think I can choose a favorite I loved it all. I loved spending time with all the 22 girls getting ready to dancing on the dance floor. John and I felt so loved and special the whole day. Of course the wedding was beautiful and the Priest did a wonderful job, I really have a hard time picking one favorite moment.

What was your favorite image from your wedding day?

I love the photos of us at the capital and the pictures of the wedding party together outside the church.

Did any of your other vendors go above and beyond for you?

Brock & Co did an amazing job it was a very special day for us and they made sure that everything went as planned. The band London Calling did an awesome job they went above and beyond the music was great and had EVERYONE out on the dance floor.

Do you have any tips to share with other couples?

Have fun! We had an extended reception of 6hr if your budget allows it have a longer reception. You will never complain that your party went on for longer! Make sure to have a planner that has worked in your venue and with the other vendors you are using it makes everything go must smoother and without issues.
