Becca and Anthony knew that the Prospect House was going to be a perfect fit for their one of a kind day. From the open floor play to the gorgeous views and lighting, it fit the dream venue that Becca always knew she would find. The two chose one of their best friends to conduct the ceremony, and knew it would be special because he knew each of them so well. The ceremony was filled with laughter and told the lighthearted love story of Becca and Anthony. The two danced the night away surrounded by all of their loved ones, and then were sent off onto their next adventure under a trail of smiles and sparklers.
How did you choose your venue: Prospect House?
I ran into a friend at a coffee shop and he mentioned that he’d recently attended a wedding at Prospect House that was beautiful, so I looked it up on Instagram. Anthony was in Australia, so a couple of my girlfriends, my mom and I went out to Dripping Springs to check out a couple of venues. There was no question that it was the right fit for us — the lighting, open floor plan and gorgeous view were perfect.
Describe your decor and how you chose it?
Beautiful? I just chose things that I like!
Tell me about your attire – who designed your dress and where did you buy it?
I really wanted this green, beaded Jenny Packham dress that I saw online at a boutique called Elizabeth Anthony in Houston. When we got there, I fell in love with another dress that was the perfect fit. And it turned out to be on sale — so lucky!
What shoes did you choose and what jewelry did you wear?
Anthony’s Aunt Mary gave us a really special gift at the rehearsal dinner — a heart-shaped diamond necklace that belonged to his late mother. It meant a lot to me to have something so special from his side of the family to wear. I also wore a diamond and amethyst bracelet that belonged to my great great grandmother that I borrowed from my Aunt Vicki. And my step-mother Paula let me borrow these gorgeous jade earrings that perfectly matched the beading on my dress. My shoes were nothing special. I found a pair of kitten heel sandals at Saks Off Fifth that would be comfortable.
Who designed the bridesmaids dresses?
We didn’t have a traditional bridal party, so my friends wore whatever they wanted! They all looked smashing.
And your groom – tell me about his look – who was his suit designer? Any other significant accessories?
Anthony had a custom suit made by Knot Standard. He chose this luscious linen fabric that had hints of green, blue and gray. He looked real good. 😉
Why did you choose me, Jenny, to be your wedding photographer?
Our wedding planner, Jessika, sent a list of photographers she recommended and their websites. We wanted more documentary style photos with natural light and realistic editing. Jenny’s portfolio looked great, and when we met her she seemed nice and fun to work with, so it was an easy decision!
What was one of your favorite moments of your wedding day?
The ceremony! And the toasts! My friend Micah performed the ceremony for us. He’s a journalist and amazing writer, plus he was my high school prom date so it seemed like the perfect fit. He talked to both of us separately to learn more about our relationship and story, then wove together a beautiful, hilarious and amazing ceremony speech. The pictures are amazing because you see everyone — including us! — laughing and crying all at the same time. The toasts were also really special. Our friends and Anthony’s Uncle Ed did such an amazing job, and everything they said was so special and meaningful. I’ve never felt so much love as I did that day from everyone in our lives.
What was your favorite image from your wedding day?
There’s this one image of me looking up at Anthony with this overwhelmed with love look and every time I see it, I get a little teary eyed. After we’d looked at the photos together, I looked over one night and saw Anthony on the couch looking at them again, crying a little. He turned to me and said, “you just look so beautiful!”
Did any of your other vendors go above and beyond for you?
Oh my gosh, everyone did! We had such an amazing group of people helping with the wedding, everything was perfect. Jessika at 36th Street Events was an amazing wedding planner. I can’t say nice enough things about her. We didn’t have to worry about a thing. The florists, Petals Inc, made everything look gorgeous. And the food from Kurant Events was spectacular! We had so many family members come up to us and say, ‘I can’t believe your entire meal was vegan; that was the most delicious meal I’ve ever had.’ After the meal, the Kurant Events team also assigned us each a caterer who made sure we always had a drink or whatever we needed. It was awesome.
Do you have any tips to share with other couples?
Don’t worry. You won’t even notice the little things on your wedding day if you’re focused on your partner and family and all the love that’s around you, so don’t stress about them leading up to the big day.
