What are your day jobs?

A. Ben is a filmmaker and Becca is a graphic designer

Q. Where did you both grow up?
A. Ben in Austin, Becca in Corpus
Q. How did you meet?
A. Ben went to college at UT with Becca’s sister, Alice. When he moved to Los Angeles, Alice introduced the two of them. Becca invited Ben to a show at the Hollywood Bowl, and they’ve been together ever since.
Q. Tell me about the proposal?
A. Ben:
We were on a trip to Texas and planning to drive back through Marfa, where Becca’s family has a ranch. I met secretly with her dad to ask for her hand in marriage the day before we hit the road. I didn’t have a ring, so I fashioned one from a combination of twisty-ties and a piece of her “Bobbie”, a blanket that Becca has had since she was a baby and still travels with. My plan was to take her on an off-road sunset drive into the Davis Mountains and ask her to marry me.When we arrived at the ranch, the off-road jeep was missing and a rattlesnake had made it’s home near the front porch. After executing the rattlesnake, we were losing light fast, so I decided to take her on a drive along the main road, where we stopped at a big water tank. We stood on the tank watching the sunset when I asked her to marry me.
Q. Name a few places that are special to you.
A. Our first date was to a Phish show at the Hollywood Bowl, so that’s a key part of our lives. So is Hollywood in general since we both majored in RTF and moved there to work in the business.

And we’ve spent a lot of time at Becca’s family ranches in South and West Texas and at Ben’s parents’ place outside of Austin.

Santa Barbara…. Cabo… Las Cruces.

Q. When you can do anything you want to do, what do you do?
A. Travel, photography, eating great food, and staying at cool hotels.
Q. What is your favorite music and/or songs that mean the most to you as
a couple?
A. Our dog picked our “song” when she walked across Becca’s laptop –
We Could, by John Prine and Iris Dement. We also revisit our first date almost every year, by attending a Phish show.
Q. What are your favorite foods/restaurants?
A. Schlotzsky’s. Asian Fare. Breakfast Tacos. BBQ. Cuban Food.
Q. Any pets? Tell me about them!
A. Stevie. She’s the best. She’s a Boston-Chi-Pom-Shi (Boston Terrier, Chihuahua, Pomeranian, Shitzu). Becca’s sister Maisie found her in the Desert outside the Salton Sea in California, and boarded her until Becca could come pick her up.
