How did you choose your venue, Omni Barton Creek Resort?
I grew up in Austin and really wanted an outdoor/ indoor venue – I was crossing my fingers for good weather, which we got! I’ve been out to the Omni Barton Creek for various other things so after they remodeled the place and saw the plans for how it was going to look after everything, I was immediately sold on the Pavilion space they were building out there – it was the perfect setting!
Describe your decor and how you chose it.
Colorful, Artsy, Chic – one of my friends said it was like an “Anthropologie wedding” 🙂
I’m a very colorful person and love painting as a side-hobby so I wanted to tie in my artsy side into the theme. I painted my wedding invitation that was then used as wine labels at the wedding + painted a large canvas that was used as the Escort board at the reception too. I also had polaroid cameras set up for people to snap their own shots to take home with them which was a nice tie back to our ‘Save The Date’ which was a polaroid picture of my husband and I. 🙂
I knew I didn’t want all white/ pink flowers at my wedding – I wanted COLOR and I wanted it to be fun, but still have a classy look to it. So, I had pops of actual fruit in my flower arrangements to add texture and color + it was something different and unique that I hadn’t seen at other friends weddings before. The flower/fruit arrangements turned out amazing!
Tell me about your attire – who designed your dress and where did you buy it?
My dress was by Daalarna Couture and it was my favorite dress I’ll ever wear. I knew right when I tried it on that it was the one (and I was not having good luck finding a dress at the time, I felt like I had looked everywhere), so it was a relief when I found it at Serendipity in Austin. It was a custom designed dress by the designer and only was available at Serendipity, so wasn’t a dress you could find at another store which was cool too! My favorite part was the ‘illusion’ look of the dress, the lace just laid there perfectly and the pearl buttons up the back of my dress were stunning. I felt my absolute best in this dress! 🙂
What shoes did you choose and what jewelry did you wear?
I wore white patent leather Prada wedges! I’ve never owned nice designer heels ever like these, so they were pretty special to me. They were the perfect height too for me – I’m 5’9 so didn’t want to be too much taller! For jewelry, I wore these really cool pearl cluster earrings that my mom found at the Garden Room that were originally clip-ons but we made them into normal earrings with posts on the back. They were a classic look! I’ll wear them to other fancy events too. I usually am a big jewelry girl, but I wanted my dress to standout the most so I kept it simple and only wore these really pretty pearl earrings.
Who designed the bridesmaids dresses?
Jenny Yoo – can’t go wrong with her dresses!
And your groom – tell me about his look – who was his suit designer? Any other significant accessories?
He had a very classic tux! He had it made for our wedding – he was a total charmer in it, I’ve never seen him look so good! I wish I knew the designer.. but I’m not sure. He got it from Capra and Cavelli (store in Austin) and they were really helpful with the whole process.
Why did you choose me, Jenny, to be your wedding photographer?
Jenny is amazingly talented and the moment I saw some of her work, I knew she was going to do a beautiful job capturing our big day too + all the events leading up to it! She also photographed one of my friend’s weddings, so I knew how good she was going to be upfront! She also really got to know us as a couple and picked up on our style (especially my artsy side), and was able to weave this look knowing our personalities into our pictures. She knew the right things to say to help us ease up so we didn’t look to posed and helped David a lot as he really doesn’t like photos, so she made him more comfortable during it all. Thanks Jenny!
What was one of your favorite moments from your wedding day?
Our final dance at the very end. It was just the two of us dancing to one of our favorite songs that the band played – In Bloom by Sturgill Simpson. We just took everything in and looked back on what an amazing day/ night it had been.
What was your favorite image from your wedding day?
I love some of the shots of David and I sitting on the pink couch on the lawn with the hill country in the back. We’re so comfortable and happy. I also love the one of us walking up the path together holding hands – love the back detail of my dress in that shot too! They were honestly all great. I was blown away.
Did any of your other vendors go above and beyond for you?
My wedding planner, Megan, did a great job and kept us all on track during the day of which was a huge help! Melony, my florist, also was a dream and helped my vision come to life for what I wanted the flowers to look like and the theme overall.
Do you have any tips to share with other couples?
Take it all in! Enjoy every minute, it goes by fast! Oh and make sure to take a step back during the reception with your partner and reflect on everything happening and all those who are there for you – it’s a pretty special day and one you’ll always want to remember together.
