Q. What are your day jobs?
He is a Software (UI/UX) Engineer and she is a Relationship Manager in the financial services industry.
Q. Where did you both grow up?
Annaliese was born and raised in Austin and Jarrod was born in Mt Sinai, NY and grew up in Satellite Beach, Florida
Q. How did you meet?
We met through friends in Newport Beach, CA. Jarrod played on a beach flag football team with mutual friends. After football, all the teams would get together at a sports bar called Cruisers, named after the beach cruiser bicycles prominent on the Peninsula. Jarrod having waited long enough to be introduced by friends, interrupted a conversation to say Hi.
Q. Tell me about the proposal?
Jarrod created an elaborate scheme to fly Annaliese back out to Newport Beach to propose on the park bench at their old condo overlooking Newport Beach harbor and the place they met.
Q. Name a few places that are special to you. This could be a vacation, a concert, something you enjoy doing together locally, etc. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy; just someplace you have made memories together.
Newport Beach Harbor (where we met) ; Kauai (favorite relaxing vacation spot) ; the Hollywood Bowl (favorite concert – John Williams); walking the dogs along Lady Bird Lake or in Zilker Park, enjoying all the great local restaurants and outdoor patios, Mattie’s Brunch, going to the movies
Q. When you can do anything you want to do, what do you do? i.e. what are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your leisure time, what makes you happy?
He loves to golf, playing sports in general and play video games. She loves to get outdoors with the dogs, a good yoga or barre class, and getting into little craft projects. We both love spending time with our friends and family and hosting dinner parties or game nights
Q. What is your favorite music and/or songs that mean the most to you as a couple? A playlist of sorts would be great! And any stories are great too!
Ed Sheeran; John Williams; Hall and Oates and other classic 80s songs; classic Whitney Houston; Motown songs; Adele ; Ray LaMontagne ; Hawaiian music. Favorite Concert is a John Williams Concert at the Hollywood Bowl which is an outdoor amphitheater. John Williams composes songs/soundtracks for many famous movies including Jarrod’s all time favorite series, Star Wars. It was an outdoor symphony concert under the stars and it was magic.
Q. What are your favorite foods/restaurants?
Sushi (Uchi, Uchiko, some favorite local spots back in SoCal) and Italian (Tuscany Italian like North Italia, Siena and for Jarrod’s roots REAL New York Italian). We also love Austin Classics – Torchy’s, Franklin’s, Loro, breakfast tacos and Kolaches Her Casa de Luz, Blue Dahlia. We also really enjoy cooking and baking at home.
Q. Any pets? Tell me about them!
Yes, two Vizslas! Sadie is 3 years old and she is the sweetest dog you’ve ever met. She gives endless kisses to most anyone that gets close, is super social with people and other dogs and loves popcorn, swimming and being mom’s shadow wherever she goes. Bodie is our 10 month old goofball big boy who gets sweeter every day. He’s curious, mischievous , loves car rides, ‘helping’ with the laundry and giving high fives. Also loves annoying big sister daily.
Q. What are your (his and hers) favorite drinks when you are celebrating? Craft beer, wines, cocktails, bubbly?
Her – wine, prosecco, or a craft cocktail depending on the venue/food ; Him – a whiskey craft cocktail
Q. What are your favorites drinks for Sunday mornings? Special herbal teas? Love a particular coffee? Bloody Mary’s?
Currently Her – Summer Moon Coffee half wintermoon iced coffee and Him – Summer Moon Coffee full wintermoon iced coffee. At brunch or special occasions Her- a mimosa with pineapple or cranberry juice (allergic to oranges so no orange juice) him – Bloody Mary.
