How did you choose your venues: St. Mary’s and Bob Bullock?

Saint Mary’s has been an integral part of our story. Fisher invited me to go to church with him at St. Mary’s when we first started dating and before I was Catholic. I fell in love with the faith and it became the core of our relationship. Also, it doesn’t hurt that it’s one of the most beautiful churches I’ve ever seen. 🙂

As for our reception, we attended our friend’s reception at the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum the first year we dated and knew if we were to get married, it would be our reception venue. More importantly, we loved how grand it felt and how much state history it holds.

Describe your decor and how you chose it?

The decor was very elegant, traditional, and natural. The Bob Bullock is a blank canvas – the combination of summer flowers and candles elevated the space to feel grand and beautiful.

Tell me about your attire – who designed your dress and where did you buy it?

The first dress I ever tried on ended up being the dress I chose to wear! It is an A-line Pronovias dress with lace details. I knew it was the one when Anna at Serendipity told me the lace was made in Barcelona. That was our first stop on our honeymoon and I saw it as a sign! I paired it with a gorgeous lace cathedral style veil.

What shoes did you choose and what jewelry did you wear?

I wanted to fully enjoy my wedding day and not have to deal with any pain from heels so I decided to wear flats by Badgley Mischka – one of the best decisions I made! I wore simple pearl and diamond earrings (something new), a gorgeous art deco sapphire ring from my mother (old and blue), and an ankle bracelet for my something borrowed from my Aunt Cheri.

Who designed the bridesmaids dresses?

Hayley Page designed the bridesmaid dresses. I loved how the lace on the back of the dress pulled in elements of the lace on my dress.

And your groom – tell me about his look – who was his suit designer? Any other significant accessories?

Fisher wanted a very traditional look for himself and his groomsmen. He chose morning suit attire, which brought a tasteful formality to our ceremony and reception. Fisher’s “statement” was definitely his footwear; having worked with the Texas Legislature for years, he chose to wear his black Lucchese dress boots that don his name and the Texas State Seal.

Why did you choose me, Jenny, to be your wedding photographer?

The wonderful ladies at Pearl Events introduced me to your work and I was sold! Not only are you one of the most talented photographers, but you also have a heart of gold and connect with your clients! I am so lucky to have the opportunity to be one of your brides!

What was one of your favorite moments from your wedding day?

I will never forget when Fisher and I said our wedding vows to each other, it felt like we were the only people in the entire church. It was a very spiritual and special moment!

One more I absolutely loved was getting to see my reception all decorated before any of the guests came inside. I had a vision in my mind for what it would look like – it far exceeded my expectations. All the work and planning over a year and it was more than perfect!

What was your favorite image from your wedding day?

I have SO many I look back on and they take me right to that moment! My favorite image is of Fisher and me after the wedding with my veil across us. It’s such an artistic and beautiful image and we have it framed in our new home!

Did any of your other vendors go above and beyond for you?

Megan Metzger at Pearl Events was a lifesaver for me! She was super organized, detail-oriented, professional, knowledgeable, a confidant and gave me such peace of mind throughout the entire wedding planning process. Throughout the year, she kept us and our vendors on track. Like I mentioned earlier, seeing my vision for my reception come to life was because of all her work. Nothing is more magical than that!

Do you have any tips to share with other couples?

This is the one and only time in your life all the people you love most will celebrate you all in one place. Savor each and every moment! Oh and definitely eat before your reception, just you and your husband. Not only do you get a chance to breathe and take in everything that just happened, but your tummy will also thank you!
