Q. Tell me about the proposal?
We “planned” to spend a Saturday last April enjoying spring in Seattle by watching a Husky crew race before brunch with a “no plan plan” that afternoon. After brunch at the Shelter (which Danielle later found was chosen due to it’s location), Brandon suggested a walk around Greenlake, Danielle’s favorite spot in the city. She suggested we go home to get the dog, change into some workout gear and run the lake, but Brandon (rather easily) talked her into walking right then and there. She wanted to walk left, but he led us right (again, for a reason). At the theater house, Brandon nudged us behind the building to get closer to the water. Per his plan and in an exact location, Brandon confessed his love and got down on one knee, asking her to marry him, where she without a doubt said YES. And as planned, his brother was there, waiting to take photos of the big moment with roses and a bottle of champagne! That afternoon was planned to a T – we enjoyed a seaplane ride from Lake Union around Seattle before both our families met for dinner at our favorite restaurant, Umi Sake House. It was a day we will never forget!
Q. When you can do anything you want to do, what do you do? i.e. what are your hobbies, what do you like to do in your leisure time, what makes you happy?
Traveling, outdoors/walking with the dog, attending sports games (Washington Huskies, Seattle Sounders, Seattle Seahawks), or just relaxing on the couch in each other’s company.
Q. What is your favorite music and/or songs that mean the most to you as a couple? A playlist of sorts would be great! And any stories are great too!
We both enjoy a broad spectrum of music – old country and blues; Michael Franti & Spearhead, Chris Stapleton, James Taylor.
Q. Any pets? Tell me about them!
Yes! We have a 10-year-old American Eskimo, Grady. He’s extremely well behaved and absolutely adorable 🙂 (He unfortunately did not join us on our big day)
Q. What are your (his and hers) favorite drinks when you are celebrating? Craft beer, wines, cocktails, bubbly?
Wine! (hence our wedding venue).
Q. How did you choose your venue?
We wanted a PNW wedding in the woods but didn’t want our guests to have to travel far from the city, so we decided to check out Chateau Lill in Woodinville. We really liked the different outdoor elements – the trees, the pond, the flowers, and the vines. DeLille wine was an added benefit!
Q. Describe your decor and how you chose it?
The grounds at Chateau Lill are already beautiful but additional decor included crisp whites, casual blues, romantic lighting and colorful flowers throughout. We also pulled in local flair when possible, including PNW ferns/flora and a Seattle funfetti cake with blue and green sprinkles.
Q. Tell me about your attire – who designed your dress and where did you buy it?
I wore a Monique Lhuillier v-neck Mikado & tulle gown from her Bliss collection, purchased at Nordstrom. The train was stunning.
Q. What shoes did you choose and what jewelry did you wear?
I’m not much of a shoe gal – I wore a pair of strappy, yet comfortable nude wedges, which to my surprise the morning of our wedding, had a note from my groom written on the bottom. I kept my jewelry simple – cluster studs from Olive+Piper, based in Vancouver, BC. My Elsa Peretti Bean bracelet was a wedding gift from my groom, symbolizing our new beginning together.
Q. Who designed the bridesmaids dresses?
I wanted my bridesmaids to be comfortable, so they chose their preferred style of dusty blue dress from Birdy Grey.
Q. And your groom – tell me about his look – who was his suit designer? Any other significant accessories?
After a few tux tryouts, Brandon decided to wear one he already owned (they all look the same anyway!), with Seattle-themed socks matching all of his groomsmen.
Q. Why did you choose me, Jenny, to be your wedding photographer?
We had the pleasure of meeting Jenny at Brandon’s brother’s wedding, Kyle to Avery in Austin, May 2017. Jenny and her team were delightful then and their wedding photos turned out so vivid, capturing every emotion. I knew I wanted Jenny as our wedding photographer before we even got engaged!
Q. What was one of your favorite moments from your wedding day?
One of my favorite memories – aside from exchanging our vows – was taking a moment with my husband to look out at dinner and feel how warm it is to be surrounded by our family and closest friends as the sun set. It’s a moment that I get to picture in my head for eternity.
Q. What was your favorite image from your wedding day?
How does one pick just one favorite??? If I had to pick, there are two that stood out to me. One is my dad and I walking through the trees just before walking the aisle. The other is “the dip” during our first dance. It captures how much fun we had and how much love filled the room that night.
Q. Did any of your other vendors go above and beyond for you?
Aside from Jenny – our planning team, Wild Sky Events, helped make our wedding day stress-free for us, as well as our families.
Q. Do you have any tips to share with other couples?
The day goes by too quickly so don’t forget to soak it all in.
Q. Anything else you would like for me to know?
In twenty years, we want to remember ourselves as young, fun and in love
