An Intimate Private Residence Wedding with Bryan Adams, The Chicks and Ronnie Wood
With most of their guests traveling in from across the country and overseas, the couple planned a full weekend that felt distinctly Austin and deeply personal at their private residence. The night before the wedding began at The Salt Lick, where guests gathered for a relaxed rehearsal dinner and were welcomed with custom branded hats made especially for the weekend. The celebration continued at The Broken Spoke and then Icon, giving everyone a chance to experience a little more of Austin before the wedding day itself. By the next afternoon, the focus shifted home.
A Private Residence Transformed
The couple chose to host their wedding at their private residence, where the backyard was completely transformed into a garden setting.
The outdoor ceremony felt intimate and personal, with florals by Remi + Gold and planning and design by Pearl Events Austin. A clear top tent created the setting for dinner and the reception, allowing the garden surroundings to remain part of the experience well into the evening.
There is something especially meaningful about celebrating at home. The setting already carries history, and the design can feel completely specific to the people who live there.
A Ceremony Centered Around Family
After more than a decade together, the couple wanted their children to be a true part of the wedding.
Their daughter and the groom’s son stood beside them during the ceremony, making the moment feel less like the beginning of something new and more like a celebration of the family they had already built together.
That sense of closeness carried through the entire day. The guest list was filled with longtime friends and family who had traveled a long way to be there.
A Visit From Ronnie Wood Before the Ceremony
Before guests took their seats, the groom’s longtime friend Ronnie Wood stopped by for a visit.
Their friendship began through art. The groom had purchased one of Wood’s paintings connected to the Rolling Stones’ Beggars Banquet imagery, and the two became friends afterward.
It was a quiet moment before the ceremony, and one of those parts of a wedding day that would have been easy to miss if you were only focused on the scheduled events.
For me, those unscripted moments are often some of the most interesting photographs of the day.
An Unforgettable Night of Live Music
Later that evening, the reception shifted into something entirely unexpected.
Bryan Adams performed. Then The Chicks took the stage.
And during the night, Ronnie Wood joined them.
Seeing three such recognizable musical names performing in the backyard of a private home was extraordinary, but the scale of the talent never changed the feeling of the evening. It still felt like a private party shared among friends.
That contrast was what made it so good.
Guests were standing just feet from the performers, singing along, dancing and taking it all in. There was no separation between a major live performance and the personal celebration happening around it.
Photographing a reception like this requires a different kind of awareness. Lighting changes quickly, performers move constantly, guests react in every direction, and some of the strongest photographs happen away from the stage.
My goal is always to document both sides of that experience, the performance itself and the people experiencing it.
A Wedding Weekend That Felt Completely Their Own
The weekend never felt designed around spectacle, despite how extraordinary the entertainment became.
It began with barbecue, custom hats and a night out in Austin. The wedding took place at home. Their children stood beside them during the ceremony. Friends gathered under a clear tent in the backyard.
And some of the most celebrated musicians in the world happened to provide the soundtrack.
That combination of access, intimacy and spontaneity made this one of those celebrations that was impossible to predict and very special to photograph.
