An Elegant Evening at Lakeside Country Club

Lakeside Country Club Wedding Planned by Belle Events | Elizabeth & Daniel

Elizabeth Galati and Daniel Rutledge have known each other for most of their lives.

They first met at St. Laurence Catholic School in Sugar Land when they were four years old. They started dating in seventh grade, attended high schools across the street from one another, and later both graduated from Texas A&M University in 2019.

By the time they married on July 23, 2022, their families had already shared years of history.

Their Houston celebration began with a Catholic ceremony at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, followed by a black-tie reception at Lakeside Country Club planned by Victoria Cornelius of Belle Events.

A Lakeside Country Club Wedding in Houston

Lakeside Country Club gave Elizabeth and Daniel the setting they wanted for a large evening centered around family, dinner, and a packed dance floor.

Belle Events designed and coordinated the day with a pink and blue palette that carried throughout the reception. Blooming Gallery added layers of floral throughout the club, while personalized details made the spaces feel distinctly theirs.

Cocktail hour included a custom seating wall, monogrammed linen napkins carried by butlers, and family photographs displayed for guests to see.

Those older photographs were an especially fitting detail for a couple whose relationship started long before adulthood.

Planning by Belle Events

Victoria Cornelius of Belle Events managed a day with a substantial number of moving pieces, including the church ceremony, transportation, family photographs, reception design, live entertainment, and the evening timeline at Lakeside Country Club.

There were plenty of details to coordinate, but the finished celebration still felt relaxed.

That balance is one of the things I appreciate about working with a strong planning team. The work behind the scenes gives the couple room to actually experience the party rather than thinking about what happens next.

A Relationship That Started in Pre-K

Elizabeth and Daniel met at St. Laurence Catholic School in Pre-K 4.

They started dating in seventh grade and continued growing up alongside one another through high school and college.

Their shared history includes family ranch weekends in Bellville, ski trips to Beaver Creek, golf, travel, new restaurants, and plenty of time with their families.

Their first kiss even happened near Daniel’s grandparents’ ranch in Bellville.

After graduating from Texas A&M, they traveled through Europe together in 2019 and later began an annual ski trip with six of their closest friends.

Elizabeth summed up their relationship simply: they enjoy spending time together, even when there is nothing particularly elaborate planned.

A Proposal That Required Some Strategy

Surprising Elizabeth was not an easy assignment.

Her parents had joked for years that she was like a CIA agent. Daniel’s father called her KGB.

So Daniel kept the proposal information very limited.

He told Elizabeth they were attending an anniversary dinner at his grandparents’ house. When they arrived and no one else was there, his father appeared with a camera and asked if they would serve as test subjects for some family photographs.

They walked down to the dock.

Then his father announced that his camera battery had died and went back inside.

Once they were alone, Daniel admitted there was no anniversary party.

Elizabeth figured out what was happening pretty quickly after that.

Daniel proposed on the dock, and afterward they went to his parents’ home where their families were waiting to celebrate.

Personal Details Throughout the Reception

Elizabeth loves hosting, planning, cooking, and bringing people together, which made the reception details particularly fitting.

If she could host a dinner party every Saturday night, she probably would.

For this one, guests were greeted with plenty of personal touches.

The bar featured a neon sign against boxwood walls, and the couple created signature drinks named E.Beth’s Watermelon Margarita and D’s Bourbon Mule.

There was a traditional wedding cake along with a Texas A&M groom’s cake, a nod to the university they both attended.

And late in the evening, Whataburger bags were ready for guests before the exit.

These are the kinds of details that make a reception feel specific to the people hosting it rather than simply decorative.

A Reception Built Around Family and Friends

Family is a major part of Elizabeth and Daniel’s life together.

They spend a lot of their free time with relatives, and both describe loyalty and thoughtfulness as some of the qualities they admire most in one another.

Elizabeth describes Daniel as driven, smart, straightforward, funny, and someone who shows up immediately when someone needs him.

Daniel describes Elizabeth as thoughtful and unusually good at reading people, especially him.

“When I’m in a bad mood, she’s the first one to notice and grab my hand.”

That closeness carried naturally into the photographs throughout the day. There were the formal family portraits, of course, but many of my favorite images came during the less structured parts of the celebration when everyone was simply together.

Live Music and a Very Full Dance Floor

Manhattan Band took over the reception after dinner.

Elizabeth and Daniel chose “All Your’n” by Tyler Childers for their first dance, replacing an earlier relationship song they jokingly admitted they had moved past.

And once the formal dances were finished, the party quickly picked up.

A live band, a room full of longtime friends and family, and Whataburger waiting at the end of the night is a pretty solid Houston combination.

In Their Family’s Words

After seeing the photographs, Daniel’s mother Martha sent me a note that captured how the weekend had felt to her:

“These pictures are amazing! I just finished looking at them and they are the best! … Thank you for capturing such a beautiful wedding.” – Martha, Mother of the Groom

She also joked that judging by how often she was photographed laughing with her mouth open, it was safe to say the weekend had been unbelievable.

Elizabeth’s mother Geraldine shared a similar reaction:

“I can’t wait to pour over all the photos of Elizabeth & Daniel’s wedding day. My head was in the clouds, and I know I missed so many details.” – Geralidine, Mother of the Bride

That is one of the reasons photography matters so much at a large celebration. Even when you are right in the middle of it, there is simply too much happening to see everything.
