Fine Arts Major at University of Texas – Class of 2015
How would you rate your overall experience this semester?
I would rate it really well. I am so glad that I found this internship
What was something you didn’t expect to learn and did?
When I first applying for this internship, I was thinking more about the photography and didn’t really think about the promoting the business part with the pinterest and blogging, but I’m so glad that I learned about that because I know now how important that is when you are running your own business
Was there anything you were expecting to learn that you did not?
I was expecting to learn more about the camera like how to use it manually and adjust it, which Jenny showed me a little bit but not enough to where I would know how to do it by myself.
Would you recommend this internship to future students?
What part did of the internship did you enjoy the most?
I enjoyed going to the wedding and getting to use the camera at sometimes and learning about all the behind the scenes stuff.
Do you feel the experience you gained will be beneficial to your future career goals? Anything in particular stand out?
Yes. I plan to start my own small business with my painting and so this was very beneficial to me. I’m glad I learned a lot about the business side since there are not any business classes available to art majors. The promoting the business using social media will be something that I will use in the future.
How was your experience assisting at weddings and shoots?
I liked assisting with the weddings and shoots. I liked how towards the end I was able to take some pictures and have Jenny critique them. However I wish I could have looked at all my pictures with Jenny to see what I’m doing right and what I’m doing wrong.
Do you feel keeping a journal was helpful to retain what you learned? Would you recommend I continue requiring this? Why?
Yes it was helpful. I even used it when I had to write about my internship in my internship class. Towards the end of the internship I got a little behind in writing in my journal because I was getting distracted with other school work, but I tried writing down what I did on my marker board just to remember what I did that day. If I did it again I would make notes in an actual journal after each day and then transfer them to the google doc later since it is easier for me to always have a notebook on me.
Did you have fun?
Yes I had fun. And this internship really inspired me to do more internships in the future.
